How nice, winter is back; Depression for all and an ideal environment for someone like DAIF who carve their songs out of a critical sadness with their trusty low-budget electric axe. Their glasses keep fogging up and the computer is continually crashing as an antisocial breeze runs through the -27° garrison town of Frauenfeld. But as long as a hard drive backup is undertaken every other hour there is no sign of resignation.
After years of frequenting in the golden precariat as cloudrapper, hacker and journalist (of the hour – if he may add) it is probably fair to say that they have established their very own niche at the cantonal office for culture. DAIF yells out songs in dialect, produces prosecco adverts, choreographs Eurodances, is an absolute CAPSLOCK SUPERSTAR, makes art in general, sleeps by day, glitches by night and wrote the first user manual for Instagram before it was invented.

DAIF is a musician, engineer & artist living in Frauenfeld, Switzerland. Depending on their daily mood, they produce emo-punk, cloudrap or eurodance; they record & mix music for artists of all genres or assist them in video production work – or create movies on their own; occasionally they tinker with electronics or sound art and take part in an exhibition or two. They co-founded the underground media label Die Yungen Huren Dot Hiv or the music-festival Out in the Green Garden and have worked as house or guest audio engineer in concert venues all over the country. Their music has been released on BlauBlau records, AuGeil Records, Lauter Musik and Die Yungen Huren Dot Hiv.

current projects
DAIF
DAIFs music mostly deals with anxiety issues & depression and tries to stay as immediate and non-abstract as possible (fuck abstract imaginary, all my homies hate abstract imaginary). Early releases focussed on the issues of substance abuse and mental health and were mostly set in experimental hip-hop. Later EPs deconstruct normative views on relationships & love, as well as gate-/realkeeping in the swiss music scene, musically set in the field of modern trap/rap.
Their latest album, «alles was mir hend wölle isch alles (und alles was mir becho hend isch chalt)», created in cooperation with Milena Patagônia, HATEPOP, prozpera and others, radically changes the soundaesthetic to early 2000s emo-punk / bedroom-folk, while continuing to talk about depression and anxiety issues appearing in relationships.

«Denn Meta ist Hochkultur und Hochkultur ist bourgeois. Kunsthochschulen sind Yuppie-Dörfer, Daif ist dem Jetzt verpflichtet. Punk gegen die Schweiz. Anti-Anti. Brandstifter. Sensibler cis-Mann. [...] Er erzählt, wie ihm die Musik damals geholfen habe, seine psychischen Probleme und Depressionen einzuordnen und zu verarbeiten. Bis heute handeln seine Songs vor allem davon. DIETER MEIERS RINDERFARM
Art collective working in film, performance, exhibitions and music, with Jeremias Heppeler & Jessica Jurassica. Founded in 2019, during a residency in Buenos Aires, as co-creators of the documentary by the same name. Following the screenings of their movie «Dieter Meiers Rinderfarm», the group formed a band by the same name and started to do performances and art installations. Currently working on an exhibition / movie production in Kunstraum Kreuzlingen in spring 2022, using Science-Fiction as a tool to reflect on current issues ranging from gender inequality to sampling/authorship in art.

Das schweizerisch-deutsche Trio Heppeler-Nägeli-Jurassica denkt Immersion wesentlich konzeptueller und damit auch viel nachhaltiger. CAPSLOCK SUPERSTAR
Eurodance-/spoken-word-duo with author Jessica Jurassica. Founded at the dawn of the pandemic 2020, CAPSLOCK SUPERSTARs first album «MEGAMIX» talks about feminist issues related to the swiss music scene or the political situation of Switzerland during the pandemic. It includes a feature by Mike Egger, singer of Jeans for Jesus, and has been released on Christmas 2020 on Die Yungen Huren Dot Hiv. Following the release of the album as a sold out limited edition with posters, shirts, fan-fiction, face-masks etc, CAPSLOCK SUPERSTAR played shows all over Switzerland.
